It's pretty basic; if you neglect anything long enough, it simply falls apart. I think this is happening to the Design & Crafts Villages in Finland. Fiskars did have quite a few visitors this year, the weather was nice but sales was slow. The summer was too good and people were just looking around and searching for a place where they could get a glass of cold water or a beer.
Marketing and Sales
The difference between sales and marketing people is that marketing people are afraid to ask for the order. Marketers are great at building consumer involvement and explaining why the new product meets consumer's needs better than the competitor's offering, but when it comes to looking a buyer in the eye and asking, How many are you going to buy and when can we ship? That becomes the difficult part in the sales process.
