Oh, here we go again. August comes soon and the summer in Finland is nearly over. Sorry, its been a while since we have posted anything from and about Loviisa. We never imagined how busy work would keep us up north with the new infrastructure. But we are at least finding the time there to hang out with friends, partners and clients over Skype, which is a pretty good thing. Well, we just wanted to let everyone know that we are still around, and doing fine and do not hesitate to send us an IM sometime.
Small Business
There’s an amazing thing taking place in the economy that gets lost in our obsession with the myth of Big is Beutiful. There are lots of small businesses run by men and women who are making money on the Internet or off-line without ever getting into the big legue.
Many are never noticed. Many are taken for granted. But people press on because it’s their passion. Small businesses are about passion and that’s why they’re so important. Passion and curiosity drive great things.
- Small businesses rule
- They drive this economy
- They provide the jobs
- They provide the innovation
- They provide the ideas
There are lots of folks selling tens of euros of dollars of merchandise on eBay each month who have never even heard the term Web 2.0. What about all the fuss of Web 2.0 start-ups? It’s nothing compared with the numbers of small businesses that are started offline every week. Some small businesses succeed while they can adapt to changing environments. Most may fail. But they’ll keep being started and most of us will never notice because there will never be a single story about them anywhere.

Companies used to think of product development in terms of a sieve: Lots of ideas were thrown in and most got filtered out along the way, with a few eventually becoming shippable goods. Is the sieve a tool too rigid for modern times?
- Computers
- The network
- The operational model
- Large screen displays
- Small screen displays
- Sales automation
- Project management
- Deal making tools
- Venture capital infusion into projects
- Free Wiki
- The web based office
But many businesses have come to view the sieve as a tool that's too rigid for modern times. In its place is a model in which ideas come from both internal development and by licensing technology from others. Some ideas result in products for the company that came up the concepts, while other ideas can be licensed out. The open innovation approach to intellectual property could make sure good ideas don't go to waste.
Learning
We will soon be able to offer our extensive and growing range of continuing education programs 24/7 via the Internet.
- Video on-demand
- Link thumbnails
- Podcasting
- How to use RSS
- We have to open up our business models
- Big companies, they are either going to have to learn from the "open innovation" or they are going to have to die
Skypecasting
We are very pleased to announce our new marketing campaign tools on Skype. We will be skypecasting about how companies can use blogging, wiki and social networking for their organizations and with their clients and partners.
Our experts will be skyping with people all over the world and sharing our experience and knowledge ondemand. We can help companies spin-out ideas that don't fit with their own business plans.
In the software industry all kinds of new business model possibilities will emerge once intellectual property is seen as something that can freely move back and forth. Companies will continue to buy and sell technology that is not being fully used.

- Sony bravia 1890,- 50 in with computer connection (hyvä on ja piti laittaa kirkkautta jopa pienemmälle kotikäytössä. 1280 vaaka. pystyä en juuri muista)
- Kyllä se on ihan hyvä minustakin: sitä löytyy Vuosaaren konepisteestä, varmaan muistakin ketjuista sitä saa.
Open Innovation
In any large company there is some skepticism about opening up your stuff to other people. What We've observed, over time, is a greater willingness to go experiment.
The software industry is one that's heavily affected by the shift, but all manner of fields are touched. The Kraft Foods has a senior vice president of open innovation. There are some disciplines that are less likely to see the product development process open up. The nuclear power industry is not going to open innovation anytime soon.
Tools
Business marketers cling to marketing tactics that they admit fail to work as well as they would like. It's time to leave these outmoded methods behind, embrace interactive media, address prospects directly, and measure the impact of marketing on revenue and market share. By moving their marketing online, business-to-business (B2B) marketers will evolve from tactical demand generation to strategic ownership of the customer relationship, and they will regain their rightful place as the corporate head of customer experience, knowledge, and influence.
