Authentic Florida. That’s what you’ll discover when you visit in the downtowns and small towns of the Sunshine State. So fill your next Florida trip with local color and explore the Sunshine State like the locals do.

Some people will make you feel a like a stranger in a strange land, but that too can happen - even with your neighbor.

  • The Digital Villages idea extended

It is not about borders. It is not about geographic location. It is about people - friends and family.

  • We have friends over there

That is who we are in the larger social context - friends and family. We need to view the rest of the world as a family.

  • Do we have time for this?

Taking personal responsibility is the first step, and if that means traveling the world to educate ourself then let's do it.

Education

Consider Florida, whose overall population has doubled since 1980. With more than 57,000 students, Miami Dade College is the country’s largest degree-granting institution, after the University of Phoenix Online.

Enrollment in the state university system has increased by more than 80,000 in 10 years, and 3 of its 11 palm-studded campuses have student bodies exceeding 40,000. The University of Florida at Gainesville enrolls 49,725 students, and admits roughly half its applicants.

John Rife

"I've been checking out the Node101 site and the its mission and I'm

looking to see if there are any vloggers in this Yahoo group living in Florida, central Florida in particular, interested in organizing a workshop to teach and promote video blogging under the auspices of Node101.

Based on Vlogmap there doesn't appear to be much of a Florida Vlogging community but I figure if you kids in the Midwest can foster media literacy and vlogging than I reckon we can too. Please reply to post or e-mail me if you are interested." Writes John Rife in Videoblogging at Yahoo Groups. Maybe you like to read what he says about his blog.
